Fat Transfer

What Is Fat Transfer and its downside?

      Fat Transfer is also called fat grafting, facial fat rejuvenation, free fat transfer, autologous fat grafting or transfer, micro-lipo injection, and fat injections. Fat Transfer is the process of taking small amounts of fat from one part of the body and reimplanting it most commonly into the facial area. The final result is transforming the aging face to a more youthful appearance.   As a volumizing filler, your own fat is almost perfect. It is soft, feels natural, and does not cause immune problems. 

          The main downside to fat transfer is that your body, to some degree, tends to absorb some of the fat that was implanted.  The amount of fat that is implanted and then absorbed by your body varies depending on the individual and the area being injected.  For this reason, we tend to 'overcorrect,' or inject more than we need to, knowing that after a few weeks the final result will be more to the patient's satisfaction. If we inject less, the patient may be happy with the initial result, but be disappointed over time as the results 'disappear'. Although the aging process is continual, the final results of Fat Transfer are excellent, long lasting and economical. 

Who is a candidate for Fat Transfer?

          All candidates need to be in good health and not have any active diseases (such as poor wound healing) or pre-existing medical conditions.  As for any cosmetic procedure, realistic expectations are important to the outcome.  Fat Transfer can make you look more youthful and less tired.

Which filler is right for me?

  The beauty part about voluminizing the face is that there are plenty of options and all will help you achieve your goal. Keep in mind, the variety of fillers out on the market not all created equal. All of which – it goes without saying – is great news for your skin.  Scientists have also found that a microcurrent facelift triggers the body’s production of amino acids and ATP (cellular energy). Both of these increase the rate of cell repair and promote healthier cell production.

Advantages of micro-current treatments: Apart from the lower cost, lack of downtime, and pain there are other advantages compared with conventional plastic surgery.  Most micro-current systems work on both the appearance of the skin and the strength of the supporting muscle tissue underneath the skin. Plastic surgery on the other hand does not improve the condition of your skin.  A micro-current facial also increases lymphatic drainage which means reduced facial puffiness and eye bags as well as a brighter more radiant complexion. Skin tone is improved and overall radiance is boosted.  

Reviews of Microcurrent facials:  Many women who use micro-current as an anti aging treatment go for a regular micro-current facials and express positive views about what it does for them. The most common criticism from those that express disappointment is that results are not as radical as hoped.  If you have a lot of loose skin and facial sag then a micro-current facial will probably not deliver transformational results.  Like any so called “ non surgical face lifts” a micro-current  treatment will deliver mild to moderate lifting and firming results over time – rather than the immediate impact you are likely to get from facial surgery.  But many people comment that micro-current facials deliver other improvements in overall skin radiance that surgery alone can’t deliver.

How many micro-current facials do you need? The exact number you need will depend on your skin tissue and muscle tone at the time you start – not necessarily on your age.  After the initial course of micro-current treatments, you only need to return for a booster treatment on average around every 4-6 weeks. If you don’t follow the maintenance plan – you’ll lose the improvements in tone, radiance and lift.

Obviously this isn’t a small amount of money but compared with facial plastic surgery a course of micro-current treatments is great value. And you won’t need to spend the $1000 all over again five years down the line. Provided you stick with a maintenance schedule your results will last – unlike some other types of non surgical treatments which need to be repeated as improvements are lost over time.

Frequency suggested: Intensive treament: 1 session a week for 1 month.  Maintenance treatment: 1 session every 4 - 6 weeks.

 L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) – is a powerful water-soluble antioxidant that is the only bio-available form of vitamin C for the skin. It is also a cofactor for an enzyme crucial in the synthesis of collagen (prolyl hydrolase) and is an antioxidant agent that provides important protection against damage induced by UV radiation. Vitamin C also improves skin elasticity and decreases wrinkles by stimulating collagen synthesis. Additionally, it reduces erythema and acts as a melanogenesis inhibitor. It functions as an MMPi by controlling the expression of inflammatory enzymes

 Do you suffer from Broken Capillaries?

 

 

 

 

Broken blood vessels, AKA as telangiectasias, the tiny spider or thread-like blood vessels can develop anywhere on the body but are especially prevalent on the face. The vessels involved can be veins or capillaries and tend to cluster around the nose, cheeks, and chin, creating unsightly attention to these areas.

What causes broken blood vessels?  Some telangiectasias are prompted by uncontrollable factors, while others appear because of lifestyle choices. The numerous causes of broken facial blood vessels include: aging, prolonged sun exposure, pregnancy, childbirth, oral contraceptive use, estrogen replacement therapy, excessive alcohol consumption, heredity, and rosacea.

Is there any way to prevent broken blood vessels? It would be best to avoid microdermabrasion and harsh scrubs.... these tend to be too harsh on your skin.  Extreme temperatures can also be a factor. Avoid washing face with hot or cold water.  Warm water is best along with a gentle cleanser.  Taking the sun without using sunscreen  can also cause these blood vessels to appear.  It is recommended to apply SPF of 30 or above, every 1-2 hours when exposed to the sunlight. 

What options are available to help improve redness?  At “A Spa Above” we offer two effective treatments for broken blood vessels.  Both are quick and virtually painless.

Bruising, crusting or redness of the skin may occur in some cases, but typically clears within a few days.

Why is it important to wear a bra after breast augmentation?

 

Breast augmentation can produce miraculous results, but the reality is the final outcome is often only as good as the after-care regimen a woman follows.  If the right bras are not selected and worn following breast enhancement, dreams of perfection can be quickly diminished.

So why do bra’s matter after surgery?  There are a number of reasons why proper support can make a big difference on the final outcome.  A surgeon’s skill has a huge impact on the appearance of breasts after an augmentation, but if the healing process doesn’t occur properly his/her work can be for naught.

The reasons why bras are so important include:  Prevention of rapid descent – Rapid descent is a condition that occurs when the implant makes the breast below the nipple bigger than the breast above the nipple line.  This happens when the breasts, and the implants, do not receive proper support over time.  When a proper bra is worn, the implant is centered in equal proportion above and below the areola.  Rapid descent of implants will produce an appearance that is saggy and more aged.

Comfort – Many women find that wearing a properly fit bra following breast enhancement increases their comfort level.  Carrying around even a little bit of extra weight in the breasts can prove to be uncomfortable when the proper support is not provided.

Better Shaping – An improperly fit bra, such as a push up bra, can cause newly enlarged breasts to take on an unnatural appearance.  In some cases, deformity can occur.  This is a very big motivation factor for selecting the right bras following breast enhancement surgery.  Push-ups bras are simply not the right selection following surgery.

While having the right bras following breast augmentation cannot replace a surgeon’s skill, they can augment his or her ability and ensure that the desired appearance lasts. 

To pick a proper bra following surgery, consider:  Getting an expert fit – Go to a department store or other sales location where staff members are skilled in fitting bras.  The fit on a post-surgical bra should involve a wire that fits all the breasts’ crease line.  A good bra will also offer the right amount of strap support and cups that are not too deep and not too shallow. 

Checking the selection with the surgeon - it is okay, and often advised, that post-surgical bra selections are approved by the surgeon.  It is more than acceptable to bring new bras to post-operative appointments to make certain the right fit has been found.

Finding the right bra after breast augmentation can prove to be a very important undertaking.  When a good fit is located and the bra is worn properly, it can help healing and assist in preventing post-surgical complications that can hamper the appearance of the breast following enlargement procedures.

What is Vi Peel Acne?  The Vi Peel Acne is designed for anyone with blemish prone skin and acne scars who wants clearer, brighter, healthier skin.  The Vi Peel Acne is designed to improve acne, tone, texture, reduce &/ or eliminate bacteria. Pore size will appear to be reduced and skin will be clearer.   As all of our peels, the Vi Peel Acne will stimulate the production of collagen and elastin for firmer skin.  The VI Peel Acne consists of a synergistic blend of acids that no other peel offers:

• Benzoyl Peroxide – removes bacteria, clears the pores and increases cell turnover.
• Salicylic Acid  - this beta hydroxy acid (BHA) is an exfoliant causing the cells of the epidermis to shed, opening clogged pores and neutralizing the bacteria within while constricting the pore diameter to prevent further clogging.
• Vitamin C  - ascorbic acid has antioxidant and mild exfoliation properties that removes toxis from the environment.
• Kojic Acid – brightens skin and reduces acne scars.
• TCA  - Trichloroacetic Acid for penetration, deep scar healing; stimulates collagen growth.
• Retin-A  - acid derived from vitamin A to combat wrinkles.
• Phenol  - has antiseptic and anesthetic properties aids in skin penetration.

What is the pretreatment preparation?  Avoid the following  products and/or procedures ONE WEEK BEFORE your scheduled Vi Peel: Electrolysis, waxing, sunless tanning or UV free tanning, depilatory creams, laser hair removal, patients who have medical cosmetic facial treatments or procedures (e.g.. laser therapy, surgical procedures, cosmetic filler, microdermabrasion, etc.) should wait until skin sensitivity completely resolves. Patient who had BOTOX injections should wait until all bruising subsides.

 

What to expect during the Vi Peel Acne:  Your skin will be cleansed and dried.  Then the solution will be applied on face, neck, and/or décolleté and hands.   It is virtually discomfort free. Clients typically experience a warm, tingly sensation that quickly subsides.  After application, you will have a 10 minute LED session while the acids are being absorbed for advanced penetration.   After your LED session, you will be given a TAKE HOME KIT along with specific instructions to help maximize the benefits of your Vi Peel Acne by protecting and nourishing the skin post peel.

What to expect after the Vi Peel Acne:  Upon leaving the spa, the remaining residue is left on the skin for A MINIMUM of 4 HOURS.  You will also receive a take home kit along with specific instructions.  It is essential to follow the instructions given to maximize the benefits of the Vi Peel Acne.  Expect light peeling to occur 3 to 5 days after the peel for an approximate 3 day period.   Your result will be improved texture, and a more radiant, youthful appearance.  Since your skin will be highly sensitive to the sun following the Vi Peel Acne, an SPF of 30 + must be worn daily.
